I am a Cuban, Jewish, queer woman, raised in Queens New York with a passion for travel and photography. I have had the privilege to live on both coasts of the US and for the last 5+ years have found a home in Seattle, WA.
I have been teaching in comprehensive high schools for 10+ years from Miami, FL to most recently at Evergreen High School in Seattle, WA. I believe that I have the ability to make what I teach interesting, relatable and engaging to most students and will go above and beyond to reach every student. I choose to use creative methods to further engage students interest such as creating a vernacular map to introduce geography in a more relatable way to creating an identity map to better understand themselves.
I hold a Master's Degree in American History and a Bachelor's Degree of Science in History. I completed my Master's thesis on the Civil Rights Movement in Seattle, WA and was drawn to this topic by my interest in further understanding the roots of unified movements by a group of likeminded people. I have a teaching certification in Social Studies and recently completely my certification in Language Arts. I chose to pursue a certification in Language Arts for a few different reasons, the first being my own passion and love for reading and the second was recognizing the overlap between the skills I already teach throughout the day of reading, writing, and speaking.
